| Some rule-of-thumb
numbers: |
30 cents for every dollar spent on
electricity in a data center is for powering air-conditioning
- Much of the power used for
air-conditioning is for driving refrigerant compressors that are not needed for
the Angstrom LiquiCool solution.
- Each air-cooled server (non-Angstrom)
uses approximately 50-100 watts to drive air through the server.
- Up to 40% of power is lost due to
transformation and transmission inefficiencies. Much of this is due to the
power supply that converts voltage to those which are usable by the motherboard
(– 12v, 5v,3.3v, -12V).
- Typical server operates at 200W
– 450W
- Power in many cities costs 8 cents to
15 cents per kW/hour.

Angstrom has launched its
Green Computing Initiative™ in an effort to bring greater efficiency to
computer data centers. Angstrom doubles usable computing Some
provable eye-popping numbers |
 |
- For every dollar spent by a data
center, only 42 cents are not wasted.
- For every dollar spent by a data
center on an Angstrom LiquiCool solution, over 81 cents are not wasted!
- What does this mean? For the same
day-to-day costs, your existing infrastructure can support double the number of
machines without the need to expand into new facilities.
- What does this mean? At 12 cents per
kW/hour typical in California), a 500kW facility will save over $200,000 a year
in electricity costs!
